The AGFI Blueprint: Lucy Lukic on Building Agile, Client-First Financial Strategies

Lucy Lukic

Lucy Lukic is an executive insurance and corporate advisory professional based in Hamilton, Ontario, and the Founder and President of Anchor Group Financial Inc. (AGFI). Bringing extensive leadership experience from major Canadian financial institutions, including CIBC, YourCFO Advisory Group, Burgeonvest Insurance Corp (BIC), and HUB Financial, Lucy has dedicated her career to helping clients with estate structures, wealth transfer, and risk management.

Outside of her professional work, Lucy is an equestrian, outdoor enthusiast, and active supporter of charities such as Marici, Children Believe, and local animal rescue foundations.

Q: What inspired you to launch AGFI, and what main goal drives the company?

Lucy Lukic: Experience in executive and advisory roles taught me that insurance planning should be a foundational piece of long-term business and estate security, never a basic transaction. I founded AGFI to give business owners, families, and high-net-worth individuals dedicated, clear guidance. The team at AGFI focuses on clarity, protection, and trust. We work with clients to manage succession, capital preservation, and estate tax obligations so they can grow their businesses with total confidence.

Q: Building a specialized insurance advisory firm requires strong leadership. How has your professional background informed your work at AGFI?

Lucy Lukic: Working inside large financial institutions, managing advisory operations, and guiding corporate insurance programs built my understanding of organizational risk and client care. Hands-on roles at CIBC, Burgeonvest, and HUB Financial provided clear insight into enterprise operations. Building AGFI meant bringing those enterprise insights into an agile, highly attentive firm where direct relationships and client needs take priority.

Q: What specific market needs or insurance priorities is AGFI focused on right now for entrepreneurs?

Lucy Lukic: Entrepreneurs frequently build solid business operations, yet lose significant capital to taxes during estate transfers or sudden leadership changes. AGFI concentrates on proactive protection, using life and critical illness policies to cover major tax liabilities or keep a business running smoothly. We also address underserved areas in the financial market, including specialized tools like RDSPs for individuals with disabilities, alongside critical illness solutions built for business owners. The objective is simple: build solid protection around both personal and business assets.

Q: Business owners face a lot of regulatory challenges and economic swings. What advice do you give to clients who want to build long-term stability?

Lucy Lukic: True stability relies on deliberate planning and consistent updates. Many owners assume standard financial or operational plans cover worst-case scenarios, but missing specific insurance planning leaves their hard work exposed to unexpected taxes or sudden health events. Business leaders should review their risk protection regularly to confirm every corporate and estate detail fits together. Taking early steps to control risk keeps regulatory updates or market swings from threatening business stability.

Q: Beyond leading AGFI, what personal interests or commitments keep you grounded?

Lucy Lukic: Keeping strong energy in business means staying connected to personal interests outside the office. I spend time riding horses, hiking, and practicing daily meditation. Giving back also drives my daily focus, and I regularly provide financial support and advocacy to charities focused on child trafficking and animal welfare. Having clear goals beyond business keeps me motivated to build AGFI into a company that creates real, lasting value for clients and community causes.
